In 2009, Microsoft set University of Dundee's 2nd year Product and Media Designers a brief, asking for "New Ways of Working" for the increasing retired population.
As a group of six we researched our own grandparents, who all shared an interest in gardening. The key insight came from David Murray; "when my neighbours go on holiday, they ask me to water their plants." This highlights a connected community of gardeners.
@Greenhouse incorporates technology into plant pots, sensing light, moisture and heat. Each pot knew the optimum settings for the plant inside. If the plant heat, light or moisture in the pot was not correct sends an e-mail. The e-mail was written in friendly language asking the recipient for assistance. Once watered, the plants e-mail back to thank the gardener. These e-mails could be sent not just to the owner but also their friends, thus sharing their gardening activity.

For me, this was a landmark project for two reasons; it wasthe first time working with Auduino prototypes and the first time working for a real client.
